How to Complete the ACORD 30 Coverage Section - Garage and Garage Keepers Liabilty

Instructions for Garage and Garage Keepers Liability Section of ACORD 30


How to Complete the ACORD 30 Certificate of Garage Insurance
In the line to the right of the title "COVERAGES" are three items you may or may not need to fill in.

PROD / CUSTOMER ID - This would be the identification number from your agency management system

CERTIFICATE # - If your agency tracks certificates by number, enter this certificates tracking number here.

REVISION # - If your agency tracks certificates by number and this is a revision of an existing certificate, enter the revision number here.

COVERAGE MAY BE REDUCED WORDING

Read the box of ALL CAPS words under the "COVERAGES" Title. As an insurance professional you need to be aware of this. The important part is the phrase "LIMITS SHOWN MAY HAVE BEEN REDUCED BY PAID CLAIMS"

GARAGE LIABILITY

INSR LTR - This means Insurer Letter. Look up in the second section down on the far right hand side of this form. You entered the carrier's names next to a corresponding letter - INSURER A, INSURER B, etc.

TYPE OF INSURANCE

GARAGE LIABILITY - IRMI has a good description of this coverage HERE

Check to appropriate check box for .items covered under this policy...

  1. ALL OWNED AUTOS
  2. HIRED AUTOS ONLY
  3. USED IN GARAGE BUSINESS
  4. BLANK - you enter description


GARAGE KEEPERS LIABILITY

Check the Appropriate check box for coverage to be provided...


  1. LEGAL LIABILITY
  2. DIRECT BASIS
  3. PRIMARY
  4. EXCESS


ADDL INSD Column

For both Garage Liability and Garage Keepers Liability place a Y in this column if there is an Additional Insured. Remember, additional insureds have to be added to the policy by endorsement. Checking this box on the certificate does not modify the policy.

SUBR WVD Column

For both Garage Liability and Garage Keepers Liability place a Y in this column if Subrogation has been WAIVED by endorsement under this policy. Remember this also has to be done by endorsement to the actual policy.

POLICY EFF (MM/DD/YYYY) Column

For both Garage Liability and Garage Keepers Liability enter the policy effective date - the day coverage begins.


POLICY EXP (MM/DD/YYYY) Column

For both Garage Liability and Garage Keepers Liability enter the policy expiration date - the day coverage ends.


LIMITS

For Garage Liability enter the policy coverage limits in the field to the right of the appropriate text.


For Garage Keepers Liability...

Check one of the boxes to the left of COMP / OTC (comprehensive  / other than collision), or SPECIFIED PERILS. if either of those coverages are being provided by this policy. These are mutually exclusive.

Check the check box to the left of COLLISION if that coverage is being provided by this policy.

To the right of these coverage text description, if these coverages are provided by this policy, enter the location number.

To the right of the location numbers enter the limits of coverage.
